Product Brief: Lauric Diethanolamide (LDEA)

Lauric Diethanolamide (LDEA), with CAS No. 120-40-1 and molecular formula C₁₆H₃₃NO₃, is a non-ionic surfactant made by condensing lauric acid and diethanolamine. It appears as off-white to pale yellow solid (25℃) with ≥99% solid content, pH 8-11 (1% aqueous solution), melting point 38.7℃ and flash point 86℃.

It disperses in water, dissolves in common organic solvents, and has excellent foaming, thickening, rust-proof and detergency properties. Widely used in daily chemicals (shampoo foam stabilizer), textile printing (detergent) and metal processing (rust inhibitor), it is packaged in 200kg iron drums/50kg plastic drums with a 2-year shelf life.

Product Advantage

  1. Exceptional Purity and Stable Quality: LDEA boasts a solid content of ≥99%, ensuring high purity that minimizes impurities affecting product performance. With strict control over total amine value (≤55 mgKOH/g) and acid value (≤15 mgKOH/g), it maintains consistent chemical properties, providing reliable quality assurance for various application formulations.

  2. Outstanding Multi-Functional Performance: It integrates multiple functions like foaming, thickening, rust-proofing, and detergency. As a foam stabilizer, it creates rich, fine, and long-lasting foam; as a thickener, it effectively adjusts product viscosity. Its rust-proof ability also protects metal surfaces, meeting diverse functional needs in one product.

  3. Excellent Compatibility and Solubility: LDEA disperses well in water and dissolves in common organic solvents (e.g., low/high-carbon alcohols, propylene glycol). It has good compatibility with other active substances, enabling flexible blending in different formulations without causing incompatibility issues, expanding its application scope.

  4. Controllable and Reliable Production: Produced via condensation of lauric acid and diethanolamine, the process allows adjusting product quality by controlling temperature, time, raw material ratio, and catalyst use. This ensures batch-to-batch consistency, reducing quality fluctuations for customers.

  5. Wide Temperature Adaptability: With a melting point of 38.7℃ and stable performance within the recommended storage temperature (5℃-35℃), it remains usable in different environmental temperatures, avoiding solidification or degradation that affects usability, suitable for diverse regional applications.

LDEA features good compatibility with other active substances, ensuring stable performance in various formulations. It is packaged in 200kg iron drums or 50kg plastic drums, with a shelf life of 2 years when stored in a cool (5℃-35℃), dry, well-ventilated, and light-protected environment, separated from oxidants, acids, and alkalis.

Product Uses

  1. Daily Chemical Field: Used in shampoos, body washes, light-duty detergents, and liquid soaps. It acts as a foam stabilizer to make foam rich, fine, and long-lasting, and as a viscosity improver to adjust product consistency, enhancing user experience during application.

  2. Textile Printing and Dyeing Field: Serves as a detergent to effectively remove oil and stains from fabrics. It also works as a thickener to increase the viscosity of printing and dyeing auxiliaries, improving their adhesion to fabrics, and as a foam stabilizer and corrosion inhibitor.

  3. Metal Processing Field: Utilized for rust prevention of metal products, preventing rust during storage and transportation. It also functions as a lubricant to reduce friction in metal processing, improving processing quality and operational efficiency.

Product Operate Guide

Before use, confirm LDEA is stored within 5℃-35℃ (no moisture/light). For daily chemicals/textile auxiliaries, mix LDEA with other ingredients under normal temp (avoid overheating >80℃). For metal rust prevention, dilute LDEA properly. Always wear gloves; rinse with water if contacting skin/eyes.

FAQ

  1. Q: What's the proper storage condition for LDEA?
A: Store LDEA in a cool environment (5℃-35℃) with low humidity. Keep it sealed, away from light and well-ventilated. Separate it from oxidants, acids and alkalis to avoid chemical reactions.

  2. Q: What should I do if LDEA contacts skin or eyes accidentally?
A: If it touches skin or eyes, immediately rinse the affected area with plenty of water. If irritation (like redness or stinging) persists, seek medical help promptly to prevent further discomfort.

  3. Q: Does LDEA have good compatibility with other active substances?
A: Yes, LDEA has excellent compatibility with other active ingredients. It can be used in various formulations (e.g., shampoos, detergents) without causing incompatibility issues.

  4. Q: What's the shelf life of LDEA, and how to confirm its quality during storage?
A: LDEA has a 2-year shelf life. Regularly check its appearance (should stay off-white to pale yellow solid) and ensure no abnormal changes to confirm quality.
